The Moroccan nation commemorates the 49th anniversary of the Green March, honoring a defining milestone in the completion of territorial integrity. Conceived in 1975 by His Late Majesty King Hassan II and carried out by 350,000 peaceful civilian volunteers, this historic march reclaimed the Southern Provinces, leading to the raising of the national flag in Laayoune in 1976 and the recovery of Oued Eddahab in 1979. Today, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the spirit of the March continues through the New Development Model for the Southern Provinces and the Autonomy Initiative, positioning the Moroccan Sahara as a booming economic hub and key gateway to Africa.
