Commenting on the Royal Address delivered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the opening of the parliamentary session, Mr. Chaoui Belassal, President of the Constitutional, Democratic and Social Parliamentary Group at the House of Representatives, stated that the speech provided a clear and definitive stance on the significant progress achieved regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue.
International Momentum and the Strategic Weight of France's Position
In a statement to news portal Rue20, Mr. Chaoui Belassal highlighted the Royal declaration that “France's position on the Moroccan Sahara upholds truth and legitimacy,” sending a strong signal to countries that remain hesitant to endorse Morocco's full territorial sovereignty.
The parliamentary leader emphasized that the National Cause has experienced momentum in recent years under the King's leadership, culminating in France's official recognition. Mr. Belassal noted that France's stance—given its permanent seat on the UN Security Council and its influence across Africa—will pave the way for further international endorsements, building upon earlier recognitions from the United States, Spain, and numerous Arab and African nations.
Mobilizing Parliamentary Diplomacy Against Opposition Maneuvers
Mr. Belassal added that the international community increasingly recognizes that this regional dispute is manufactured by neighboring Algeria, which has placed itself in growing international isolation.
“As parliamentarians, we are called upon today to drive parliamentary diplomacy with renewed vigor, as requested by His Majesty, to educate the few remaining hesitant nations on the historical truth and legitimacy of our territorial integrity, while actively countering the maneuvers of our adversaries,” stated the parliamentary group president.
During the opening of the autumn legislative session, His Majesty King Mohammed VI commended the growing momentum of international support, specifically expressing pride in the clear commitments of brotherly Arab and African nations that have opened diplomatic representations in Laayoune and Dakhla.
