Karim Chaoui Elected President of the Provincial Council of Kenitra

By حزب الاتحاد الدستوريOct 30, 20261 min read

Karim Chaoui, of the Constitutional Union party, was elected on Thursday morning as the new President of the Provincial Council of Kenitra, during a session held to elect the Council’s new president.
Chaoui won broad support from the Council members, securing 26 votes. He was elected as the sole candidate for the position.
Karim Chaoui of the Constitutional Union takes office as successor to the late President Jaouad Gharib, of the National Rally of Independents, who passed away last September, shortly before the parliamentary elections.
Members of the Provincial Council and residents of the province look forward to giving fresh impetus to local development, and to pursuing projects that serve the public interest and strengthen the region’s infrastructure and social facilities.

The Constitutional Union places employment and purchasing power at the heart of its electoral platform.

On September 7 in Casablanca, the Constitutional Union (UC) launched its platform for the 2026 legislative elections, prioritizing job creation, purchasing power, and productive growth under the commitment "A Productive Economy, More Job Opportunities, and Stronger Purchasing Power." Key Challenges Addressed: Secretary-General Mohamed Joudar highlighted that ~2.9 million Moroccan youth are currently not in employment, education, or training (NEETs), alongside inflation pressures and market intermediaries driving up living costs. Core Proposals: Align vocational training with market demands and support first-job access for youth. Improve the business climate, expand financing for SMEs/startups, and combat monopolies and rent-seeking. Strengthen market competition and supply chain transparency to curb inflation rather than relying solely on temporary price fixes. Combine private initiative with strategic state oversight to ensure growth benefits all social classes and regions.
