The United States commended, on Friday, the appreciated role of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in supporting the Palestinian people and advancing the two-state solution and peace in the Middle East.

US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price stated, "Morocco has a special relationship with the Palestinians. Of course, His Majesty King Mohammed VI is the Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and we appreciate Morocco's role in assisting and accompanying the Palestinian people and in supporting the two-state solution."

Touching upon the resumption of relations between Morocco and Israel, Mr. Price described the Kingdom as a "leader," emphasizing that the ties between the two countries have yielded "real benefits" and "new opportunities for peace and prosperity."

During a press briefing at the Foreign Press Center in Washington, the spokesperson added, "We will continue to engage with Israel and other countries in the region and even beyond to try to expand the circle of these normalization opportunities, and we will look for other opportunities to enhance cooperation between these countries, and between Israel and its neighbors."

Responding to a question about the Negev Forum, the US diplomatic spokesperson noted that the members of this forum have formed several working groups focusing on six key areas: regional security, clean energy, food and water security, health, tourism, and education and coexistence.

These working groups, the official explained, "seek to advance and promote coordination initiatives among the founding members of the forum to encourage what constitutes its core: regional integration, cooperation, and development for the benefit of the peoples of the region, including, of course, initiatives that would serve to strengthen the Palestinian economy and improve the quality of life of the Palestinian people."

Price said that "the Negev Forum aims to build bridges and create opportunities," stressing the importance of working towards a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
