Sajid: "Ideologies and reference frameworks have become obsolete."

By حزب الاتحاد الدستوريJun 20, 20212 min read

Mr. Mohamed Sajid, Secretary General of the Constitutional Union, was the guest speaker at the "Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University Dialogues" in Fez, an initiative organized by the Laboratory of Political Studies and Public Law. The university's Training and Conference Center hosted this ninth session on the morning of Wednesday, June 9, 2021, focusing on three core themes: partisan and political affairs, economic and social issues, and higher education.

Sajid highlighted that during his tenure managing Casablanca's local governance starting in 2003, he contributed to formulating a unified development vision for the city to cope with rapid urban, demographic, and economic growth, overcoming decades of accumulated deficits caused by administrative fragmentation. Consequently, a comprehensive transport system plan for 2030 was drafted in 2004, with an estimated cost of around 60 billion MAD. In line with these urban development efforts, he also contributed to the national rehousing policy to tackle housing deficits and eliminate informal settlements.

Regarding the party's perspective on the Moroccan political landscape, Sajid stressed that traditional ideologies and reference frameworks have become obsolete. The true challenge today lies in addressing public sector efficiency and productivity, alongside solving academic challenges and meeting youth expectations. He emphasized the critical need to rely on human capital, higher education, and vocational training to tackle these shared issues.

He added that while the country has achieved significant progress in infrastructure and key industries, other sectors continue to face deficits that require collective effort and cooperation to overcome.

The Constitutional Union places employment and purchasing power at the heart of its electoral platform.

On September 7 in Casablanca, the Constitutional Union (UC) launched its platform for the 2026 legislative elections, prioritizing job creation, purchasing power, and productive growth under the commitment "A Productive Economy, More Job Opportunities, and Stronger Purchasing Power." Key Challenges Addressed: Secretary-General Mohamed Joudar highlighted that ~2.9 million Moroccan youth are currently not in employment, education, or training (NEETs), alongside inflation pressures and market intermediaries driving up living costs. Core Proposals: Align vocational training with market demands and support first-job access for youth. Improve the business climate, expand financing for SMEs/startups, and combat monopolies and rent-seeking. Strengthen market competition and supply chain transparency to curb inflation rather than relying solely on temporary price fixes. Combine private initiative with strategic state oversight to ensure growth benefits all social classes and regions.
