An important Moroccan parliamentary delegation is participating in the proceedings of the 17th session of the Conference of the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) and other accompanying meetings, hosted by the Algerian capital from January 26 to 30, 2023.

A statement by the Parliament clarified that this session, organized under the theme "The Islamic World and the Challenges of Modernization and Development," with the attendance of representatives of member parliaments of the Union in addition to a number of international and regional parliamentary organizations as observers, is being held amid a set of challenges facing the Islamic nation at the political, economic, and security levels, and comes in the wake of recent developments witnessed by the Palestinian cause.

The same source added that the proceedings of this session are characterized by the holding of meetings of both the Executive Committee of the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization, and the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments of Member States of the Union, in addition to holding the meetings of the four standing committees; these are the Committee on Political Affairs and Foreign Relations, the Committee on Economic and Environmental Affairs, the Committee on Human Rights, Women and Family, and the Committee on Cultural and Legal Affairs and Dialogue of Civilizations and Religions.

The statement noted that the first day witnessed the organization of consultative meetings among the members of the three groups (Arab, Asian, and African) comprising the Union, concerning a range of relevant organizational issues. The Palestine Committee also held a meeting to examine the developments of the Palestinian cause.

The session's proceedings revolve around discussing a set of draft resolutions related to a number of issues and countries, along with renewing the organization's structures, with these works culminating in the issuance of a final communiqué.

It is noted that the Moroccan Parliament is participating with a delegation headed by Mr. Mohamed Ouzzine, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, and includes in its membership from the House of Representatives: Deputy Mohamed Chebbak from the National Rally of Independents group, Deputy Najwa Koukouss from the Authenticity and Modernity group, and Deputy Khalid Chennak from the Istiqlali group of Unity and Egalitarianism. From the House of Councillors, it includes Councillor Abdelkarim Chahid, Head of the Constitutional Democratic Social group, and Councillor Khalid Satti, member of the National Labour Union in Morocco.

The Constitutional Union places employment and purchasing power at the heart of its electoral platform.

On September 7 in Casablanca, the Constitutional Union (UC) launched its platform for the 2026 legislative elections, prioritizing job creation, purchasing power, and productive growth under the commitment "A Productive Economy, More Job Opportunities, and Stronger Purchasing Power." Key Challenges Addressed: Secretary-General Mohamed Joudar highlighted that ~2.9 million Moroccan youth are currently not in employment, education, or training (NEETs), alongside inflation pressures and market intermediaries driving up living costs. Core Proposals: Align vocational training with market demands and support first-job access for youth. Improve the business climate, expand financing for SMEs/startups, and combat monopolies and rent-seeking.
