Communiqué from the Royal Cabinet.

By حزب الاتحاد الدستوريMar 13, 20232 min read

Here follows a communiqué from the Royal Cabinet:

"The General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party recently issued a statement containing some irresponsible excesses and dangerous fallacies regarding the relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Israel, linking them to the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In this regard, the Royal Cabinet affirms the following:

– First: Morocco's position on the Palestinian cause is irreversible, and it constitutes one of the foreign policy priorities of His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful and Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, who has placed it on par with the issue of the Kingdom's territorial integrity. It is a steadfast, principled position of Morocco, which is not subject to political outbidding or narrow electoral campaigns.

– Second: The foreign policy of the Kingdom is the prerogative of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, by virtue of the Constitution, and He manages it based on the national constants and the supreme interests of the country, foremost among which is the issue of territorial integrity.

– Third: The international relations of the Kingdom cannot be the subject of blackmail by anyone and for any consideration whatsoever, particularly in this complex international context. Therefore, the exploitation of the Kingdom's foreign policy for a domestic partisan agenda constitutes a dangerous and unacceptable precedent.

– Fourth: The resumption of relations between Morocco and Israel took place in known circumstances and in a context known to all. It is framed by the communiqué issued by the Royal Cabinet on December 10, 2020, the communiqué published on the same day following the telephone conversation between His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, and the Palestinian President, as well as the Tripartite Declaration dated December 22, 2020, signed before His Majesty the King.

The living forces of the Nation, political parties, certain leading figures, and some associative bodies concerned with the Palestinian cause were informed of this decision at the time, and they expressed their adherence and commitment to it."
