Heads of the majority parliamentary groups in the House of Representatives have agreed to designate Mr. Chaoui Belassal, head of the Constitutional Democratic and Social group, as the coordinator for the majority groups, in accordance with the rotational principle governing the House’s leadership body.
The decision was made during a meeting held on Monday morning by the leaders of the majority groups at the parliament headquarters. The meeting was also dedicated to discussions on organizing a study day focused on the achievements and challenges of parliamentary diplomacy.
The leadership body of the House of Representatives consists of the chairs of the majority parliamentary groups. Its chairmanship rotates among group leaders for each new legislative year, with the rotational order over the five-year term determined by proportional representation.
The leadership body meets at least once every two weeks to streamline coordination on bills under review and voting, agree on joint legislative amendments, deliberate on private members' bills, process requests for fact-finding or investigative missions, and convene whenever necessary.
