King Mohammed VI addressed a Royal Message to the participants in the international symposium held in Rabat on December 7-8 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, under the theme: "30 Universal Commitments for Human Dignity: Universality of Human Rights: Achieved Actuality or Incomplete Path?"
The message, read by Mrs. Amina Bouayach, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), emphasized that Morocco's celebration of this milestone reflects its continuous commitment to advancing human rights in both culture and practice. The Sovereign highlighted that Morocco has chosen a distinct human rights path anchored in constitutional enshrinement and integrated into public policies, strategic choices, and the reinforcement of the rule of law.
Furthermore, the Royal Message pointed to major structural reforms undertaken by the Kingdom, notably the generalization of health coverage, social protection, and ongoing societal consultations to reform the Family Code (Moudawana) to uphold the rights of women, children, and families. The King also underscored the indispensable contribution of Global South nations in shaping universal human rights frameworks, addressing contemporary cross-border challenges, and bridging the gap between theoretical principles and their actual implementation.
