Statement by the Constitutional Union Party

By حزب الاتحاد الدستوريOct 31, 20263 min read

The Constitutional Union commends His Majesty’s wise leadership and welcomes the historic turning point in the Moroccan Sahara issue

Following the developments regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue at the meeting of the United Nations Security Council held on Friday, 30 October 2026, and the statement issued by the Royal Cabinet on this matter, the Constitutional Union Party expresses its deep pride in the historic achievements of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the wise and enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him. The Party declares its full support for, and high appreciation of, the positions and orientations set out in the Royal Cabinet’s statement, which reflect the profound transformation underway in the nation’s foremost cause.

On this occasion, the Constitutional Union Party reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the Nation’s fundamental constants and sacred values, foremost among them the territorial integrity of the Kingdom. The Party, its leadership, grassroots and members alike, affirms its constant mobilization behind His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and its steadfast commitment to defending the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and safeguarding its sovereignty and supreme interests.

The Constitutional Union Party commends His Majesty the King’s insightful strategic vision, as well as the sustained diplomatic efforts His Majesty leads in defense of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and supreme interests. These efforts have yielded significant gains and fundamental shifts in the international community’s approach to the artificial regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

In this regard, the Party commends the international momentum initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This momentum has rallied the support of more than two-thirds of United Nations member states, including permanent members of the Security Council and influential world powers, for the Autonomy Initiative under Moroccan sovereignty as the sole framework for resolving this regional dispute.

The Party notes the historic and symbolic significance of this development coinciding with the celebration of “Unity Day,” established by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God preserve him. This day marks the shift from a logic of managing the dispute to an approach founded on a profound transformation of its underlying parameters, reflecting the new phase the nation’s foremost cause has entered.

The Constitutional Union Party renews its steadfast support for the positions expressed by the Kingdom of Morocco, foremost among them:

  • its commitment to the ceasefire, with full respect for its territorial integrity and unity;

  • the protection of its national security and the peace of mind of its citizens;

  • the continuation of its diplomatic momentum at the bilateral and regional levels.

The Party affirms that this historic turning point marks a new milestone for sustaining comprehensive national mobilization, built on the firm national consensus and the strong bond between the Throne and the people. This mobilization aims to preserve the Kingdom’s achievements and to pursue the process of building and development in the Southern Provinces, under His Majesty’s enlightened leadership.
