King Mohammed VI addressed a message to Mr. Cheikh Niang, Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
In the message, the Sovereign underscored that the commemoration coincides with an unprecedented crisis in the Middle East and the occupied Palestinian territories following the escalation that began on October 7, 2023. King Mohammed VI strongly condemned the severe violations of international humanitarian law, the devastating toll on civilians, the mass displacement, and the total blockade of Gaza, emphasizing that the situation challenges the international community's conscience and demands a decisive, binding UN Security Council resolution for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire.
Reiterating the four urgent priorities outlined during the extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, the King called for:
An urgent, tangible de-escalation, cessation of hostilities, and a durable ceasefire.
The protection of civilians in accordance with international law.
Unhindered, safe, and sufficient humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza.
The establishment of a political horizon to revive the two-state solution.
As Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, the Sovereign reaffirmed Morocco's unwavering position supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, while preserving Jerusalem's unique legal, historical, and demographic status as a symbol of peaceful coexistence.
