His Majesty King Mohammed VI called, on Thursday evening, on all national forces for mobilization, vigilance, and active engagement in the national effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an Address to the Nation on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, His Majesty explained: "Parallel to the measures taken by public authorities, I call on all national forces to mobilize, remain vigilant, and engage in the national effort regarding awareness-raising and community guidance to confront this pandemic."
His Majesty warned that without exemplary and responsible national behavior from everyone, it will not be possible to overcome this situation or meet the challenge of fighting this pandemic, emphasizing that without strict and responsible compliance with health measures, the number of infections and deaths will rise, and hospitals will become unable to cope with the pandemic, regardless of the efforts made by public authorities and the healthcare sector.
His Majesty stated: "My speech to you today is by no means intended as a reprimand or reproach; rather, it is a direct way to express my concern over the continued rise in infections and deaths, God forbid, and the potential return to a full lockdown, with its psychological, social, and economic consequences."
His Majesty added: "Today, as we commemorate the anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, we need more than ever to recall the values of sacrifice, solidarity, and loyalty that characterized it, in order to overcome this difficult circumstance."
His Majesty expressed confidence that "Moroccans are capable of rising to this challenge and following in the footsteps of their ancestors by upholding the spirit of true patriotism and positive citizenship duties, for the good of our people and our country."
